Erika Jones

Birth Doula (CAPPA), Postpartum Doula (CAPPA)

Erika Jones is a Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula and and Lactation Educator certified with CAPPA. She has spent more than a decade working with families in labor and postpartum and helping with lactation. She has seen more than 350 babies to date in birth and Postpartum. Her specialties lie in helping families to receive their baby in their arms in an expeditious manner and helping to complete their family. Erika also specializes in helping families successfully breastfeed their babies. These skills have taken nearly 12 years to master and there’s still so much more learning involved with every family she supports. This Doula profession found me and I’m spoiled to do anything else. It is my whole life’s work.

I count it an honor an privilege to serve your family in these tender and trying moments. It is my greatest joy!

How long have you been a doula? Since 2008

Favorite Birth Book: The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin. I like this book most of all because a pregnant woman is constantly inundated with information about what, where, when, how and why.... I believe we should begin educated the partners on exactly what support should look like. Ultimately whether in Birth or Postpartum women more than anything need support. True story. Ha.

How do you spend your free time? I spend my time learning Latin dances and perfecting my singing voice. I also ride bikes and swim.

What would you be doing if I wasn’t supporting families in Birth and Postpartum? That’s a loaded question. I believe I’d be wandering the streets trying to figure out what I was missing. I’m sure I’d be a nurse working labor and delivery. This work would still stay so close to me.

Favorite Music: That’s a difficult one. Anything with a good beat to it is my music friend.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? I’d probably choose New Zealand. I’d love to be immersed in their culture for a good bit.
